Will be visiting Atlanta and was hoping someone might offer suggestions on places to go antiquing.

Jean, try the shops on Miami Circle and Bennett Street, for a couple of ideas.

Miami Circle is located off of Piedmont Road in the Buckhead area. It parallels the MARTA tracks. Nearest major intersection would be Sidney Marcus Boulevard and Piedmont, near the Lindbergh MARTA station. (For what it's worth, Sidney Marcus 'Boulevard' used to be a short dirt road next to Broadview Plaza, now known as Lindbergh Plaza.) I think boulevards should be miles wide and tree-lined. Such is the silliness of Atlanta, IMHO.

Bennett Street is off of Peachtree Road, at approximately the 2000 block, just north of Piedmont Hospital, which is at Collier Road and Peachtree Road.

I'll be interested in others' replies, as I could use some ideas myself.

I don't know about the smaller shops and flea markets in the area, but there is a list of group shops available for printout at http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/herbbreese/

Just click on the state(s) you need.

Try the FleaAntique Depot... its in Lilburn.. Take I-85 North from downtown Atlanta to Indian Trail Rd. ( should be around exit # 37) turn right off the ramp.. Then apx 3 miles to US 29 Hwy. Then right on Hwy 29 for 2 miles.. Will be on the right in same shopping center as the Good Will store..

Jean..... I was in Atlanta a few weeks ago and we found some interesting places. May I strongly suggest Chamblee's Anitque Row billed as the South's largest and most unusual antique area located in suburban Atlanta just 1.5 miles inside Interstate 285 ( Exit 23A) in old Chamblee ( about 1 mile after you get off the exit look for sign on left side of road near Mcdonals. Over a dozen shops most within walkind distance of each other. Several intersting antique malls etc. Once in Atlanta pick up a brochure about this unique Antiquing area... also if you happen to be there on the 4th weekend of the month there is a very nice antiqure flea market ( truley an antiuque flea market.... not carport or flea maket junk ). Look for a brochure on it also. I believe it is in what's called the Atlanta Trade center at about exit 38 on I-85 just north of Atlanta... a real treat for true antiuqes in all price ranges.... They claim they have 800 antique dealers ( I think this was a little high of an estimate but it was quite large ) and we reallly appreciated that it really was mostly antique vendors.. Hope this helps..
