If you want to check these folks out further (if only to partially satisfy your curiosity), they have a web site at
www.cybervillage.com/lepicker/

with lots of interesting stuff for sale to dealers at prices I can't afford to pay. (But then, my cheapskate credentials are well established.) By their own estimate, they sell at 30%-50% off [East Coast] retail. And I buy at 70% off Midwest retail, so we've got a big gap there.

Otherwise, their site looks legit, FWIW. But you do raise some interesting questions about their operation, and I'd be fascinated to hear more from them about how they do what they do.

GK

NB: I have no connection whatsoever to these folks and do not advocate that anyone buy or not buy or sell or not sell anything to or from them. So no flames, OK???

'East Coast retail' is already twice 'Rocky Mountain retail' (or higher.) Items appraised on Personal FX for $50 (today's 1940s dime-store vase) would be lucky to sell for $15-$20 retail here.

I'll take a look at the URL. Thanks!

My curiosity is in how their multitude of posts are worded - and how they're looking for 'advisors' (yet they claim to be experienced appraisers.)

Call me nuts (OK, get in line!)....but an experienced person of the type they are seeking, would be able to sell items at retail and not half-wholesale to someone pricing them at 'half off East Coast retail.'

I see this as an investigatory effort

Sounds to me as if they're (the pickers) looking for B & E (breaking & entering) or burglars to 'boost' some 'good stuff' for later resale. IMO

Hi, Doug and everyone!

I've got GOOD news re: lepicker!

One of my most trusted online friends (and a couple of lepicker's customers) have contacted me and give him good marks for service and quality of merchandise.

We may have acted in haste in judging him
