I recently aquired a cast iron bed which I suspect is antique. It has a plaque with the name 'Peyton & Peyton,Birmingham'. It is a double bed and has obviously been painted white. The edges are rounded and the headpiece and footpiece have diamond shaped designs in the centres. Can anybody help?

Birmingham is in Alabama. You might want to contact their better business bureau and see if the company is still in business. The company would be able to give you the best answers as to how old it is. But Cast iron stuff alwas sells good, hang on it even if it isn't an antique. And take the paint off before taking it to be sold or appraised.
