I recently obtained a six sided star badge in very good condition that says Deputy Marshal with Oklahoma Territory in between the deputy and marshal. On the backside in very small letters are three initials. Are the initials probably the original owner's or the manufacturer of the badge? What would be the approximate value of this badge. Thanks for any help you could give me. Are there books that list badges such as

badge?

I would imagine that if it has any age to it (6 sided star badges are still used today) that they're the original owner's initials. Receiving their badge is a 'Rite of Passage' to a law enforcement officer, and these days they can order them custom cast with their name worked into the design on the front. Sort of like a class ring. The one my 'EX' bought about 7 years ago ran $50 new if that helps any.

They appear to be very collectible, I see them often on eBay. Makes me wish I hadn't turned the 'Ex's' in to the Sheriff when he went to prison. I did have great fun, (And made some $$$ also!), auctioning off his police patch collection though! (Also very collectible)
