Not my taste, and those drawer handles are _way_ too fussy for me, but it certainly looks like some nice selection and use of timber.

I just don't think it's old enough to get precious about it. Describing it as 'Original Finish' is well out of line though, but that's the sort of description comment that I subconsciously filter out of anything on eBay anyway,

I wish I had a dollar for everyone of the damn things I'd had to restore or put new tambour backing in, plus they take four men and a hairy assed boy to pick up and deliver. Most I got in needed so much work it was hard to turn a good dollar on, I usually passed them on 'As Is'. The funny thing is that often after I sold them I would get a call back from the purchaser asking me to 'Restore it'.

Yes, we call it dry stripping when it is done with a rather sharpish paint scraper, usually when the finish has dried out to the point it powders off with a good pull. Often all the old patina get clawed off as well giving that bleached blonde look with the dark roots ;~))

Pretty much that way around here, too. Used to have at least one person a month asking if we could run one down for them. As you say, they don't much fit computer work. They're now looking for interesting old tables that are or can be modified to a good keyboarding height.

Stickley 706 desk, but without the pigeonholes.

I've got a repro to build by mid-March (and get it delivered to Carrickfergus too)
