I've been pouring through the books and can't find anything like what I just bought (what's new?) It's made from an 'ironstone' material and goes on a telephone/telegraph? pole. It's a 'robin's egg blue' approx. 10'high by 7-8'wide 'insulator looking' object with the following markings on the top: Auto Valve w/lightning bolt on each side of writing, A circle with a W in it which is underlined(Westinghouse I think) and the words Lightning Arrestor......I'm fairly certain WHAT it is (I'm no dummy) but, I'm trying to find out age, value, collector interest, etc. thanks in advance,

You're lucky, Doug. Mine's an ugly brown. I've found no collector interest in mine (I thought it was sort of artistic looking, but obviously much newer than the insulators that were heavily collected a few years ago.)

Robin's Egg Blue is nice - perhaps put it on eBay as a decorator piece?

Kris, I've had some Hemingray glass insulators and some porcelain ones also, but I've never had/seen anything this LARGE and shaped like this. I spent 2 hours at around 3:00a.m. this morning perusing an 'insulator' section on usenet and couldn't find this particular item.
