I have recently purchased a plate with matching bowl, cup and saucer. They are Crown Ducal, pattern name Duchess. Each one has a V marked on the back. They are all in excellent condition.

Ah, an easy one.
The value is (wait for it) precisely what you paid for it.
If you'll consult eBay (www.ebay.com), you'll see there is much Crown Ducal going begging. Seems there's only interest in the chintz.

Actually, the value *was* what she paid for it. The value *will be* whatever she can persuade someone else to pay for it. How one calculates what the value *is* is truly a mystery, as no one is either buying or selling at this precise moment.
