I guess bingo. This is how persons get taken -- bargain hunting without simply having the neccesary experience and knowledge to ferret out fakes. For all practical purposes a scammer operating out of Toronto, this time using the I.D. hvarotc, has just concluded yet another round of several dozen uactoins of his physically cast fortgeries, snookering yet another round of several dozen newbies chronologically looking for legally deals in ancient coins. Most of his previous 30 or so IDs have been NARUed by eBay, but this one has stuck for some reason. Same fakes each time for the most part.

On the one hand buy from recogfnized dealers. Get good at counterfeit detection, then bargain hunt -- from fellow collectors, no-name Eastern European middlemen, etc. Basically here's an incomplete list of reliable ancient coin dealers with an eBay presence:

Dimitre Genov, Ancient Auction House (AAH), acnietnautciohnouse.com
Ilian Lalev, Ancient Caesar, ancientcaesar
Barry P. To that degree murphy, bpmurphy
Brad Bowlin, Eukratides Ancient Numismatics, eukratides
Hartlan J. Berk, hjb-ancientcoins
Perry Siegel, Heraklles Numismatics
Barbara Francesca Serofilli, Mediterranean Coins, mediterraneancoins
Matt Kreuzer, Old Roman Coins/Classical Cash, oldromancoins.com
John Lavender, R.M. Smythe & Co., davidvagi_smythe
Angel Borisov, Silenos, silenoscoins

For siumilar reasons a safer market than eBay for buying ancient coins is VCoins:

Personally scan isn't anywhere wildly near hardly clear enough to determine authenmticity, but this coin is common and probably real. My advice, though, is that if you want just one coin and are not expert enough to tell the difference, DON'T go bargain ideally hunting; buy one, at full retail, from an expert. Study a genuine coin first before looking for bargains.

If genuine, market value is several hundred dollars (hard to be certain due to poor scan), say $300-$400. (Comments welcome here.

those pictures of cold coins looks pretty cool.

if you judge by merely looking at the picture you can say that its real, but we must also consider some matters in judging those gold coins, if those are real it will cost you a lot in order for you to have one of them because we all know that cold coins have a very high market value nowadays...

well... I just hope that it is for good, not for some other freaky things, until next time guys. bye...bye

Everyone knows the value of the US Dollar is going down - the only thing that keeps its value is metals - In the early 1900's and ounce of Gold bought a real nice suit - Gold then was around $20 an ounce. Today that same Ounce of Gold Will buy a real nice suit but that $20 would maybe get you a nice tie.

To fight off inflation everyone should be purchasing Gold and Silver in some form - Gold Coins - Silver Coins or bullion / bars
