I was wondering if you would be able to help me locate someone who would be able to repair an old bronze casting of a Bison. The problem is with his tail which extends out 6 inches from the hind quarters. The tip of the tail broke off about 30 years ago and has since been lost. I have received the piece from my father and would like to know if the missing part can be recast and somehow permanently attached. The piece is signed 'Hofmann' and is on a black and red marble base. The actual casting is 17' long, 10' high and solid cast. Any help would be appreciated. Also if you are familiar with this artist I would appreciate any info you have or could direct me to.

Forgot to mention that the piece was purchased from an estate sale in England sometime in the early 40's and brought to the USA in the mid 60's. Again thanks

In response to your query regarding bronze repair, Maloney's Antique resource directory lists Cavallier Arts in Stamford CT. phone # 203-325-8444. Their ad states 'Bronze sculpture restoration; master restorer of bronzes for over 20 year]s.' Hope this helps. Mari
