Greetings, I have been looking for a silver business card holder. After looking for awhile and not seeing one, I realized that maybe people did not use card holders. I've seen sterling card trays where one would lay their calling cards down. But now I am wondering did people even use business card holders like we do now? Does anyone have some information on this? Thanks,

During the Victorian era, calling card cases were made. These work well as business card cases. Some look like purses on a chain, and some are quite ornate silver. Warning: they're pricey!

I have a bound copy of a ladies' magazine from around 1840 (can't remember exactly, since it's by my bed and I'm at work) that includes directions on making crafts. Last night's reading included directions for making card holders from cardboard, with burned-in decorations and ribbons. You either left it on the sideboard, or made it a little differently to hang on the wall.
Oops. Sorry. This was for social cards, and you asked about business cards. Nothing to contribute there.
