As has the Science Centre in Vancouver, Canada. They did a wonderful overnight for girl guides that included behind the scene tours of exhibits and a candle light tour of the facilities.

The Field Museum in Chicago also does 'overnights' once a month, which are extremely successful from all I have been told...sounds like fun to me though I haven't been able to help out at one yet!

Just so you know!

:> You may want to contact the education department at the National :> Building Museum in Washington, DC. If memory serves, they did a :> camp-in for girl scouts last summer. :> :> Denise D. Meringolo ::As has the Science Centre in Vancouver, Canada. Another question about camp-ins. do the attendees receive any sort of packet of information or goodies that they take with them? Or does the cost of attending only cover wear and tear and whatever meals are included?

Thanks in advance.

The company I worked for has been a major donor to a local museum. We arranged to have the Christmas Party there this year. Things went very well - except I, and several co-workers, felt put off because most of the museum was off limits. They had also offer a camp-in to some girl scouts the same night. The lesson, to me, was that this type of conflict can produce more ill will than revenue.

The Science Centre gave the girls t-shirts to wear during the event and take home. There were also crafts made during the event that were taken home Afterwards

Douglas, I'm not sure I understand the nature of the 'conflict' you mentioned. Did you mean that it was unwise to have your company Christmas party and the Girl Scout camp-in the same evening? It seems to me that it would be normal for most museums to have most of their facilities off limits during a special party, donors or not, unless they could provide the same degree of security as is available during public hours. Could you clarify your complaint a bit?
