One of the old glass bottles in my Victorian castor set has a glass stopper which is stuck. Not only that, but the top part is actually broken off so there is nothing one can grasp. No, - I did not do such a thing, it came to me like that. <G> Is there a way to remove the remaining piece stuck down in the neck of the bottle? Thank you

If the stopper is really broken off level to the neck, then you have to drill a *small* hole through the stopper, then feed in string soaked in Superglue through the hole...then wait until it is set. Soak the sealed area in WD40 or some thin lubricant...wait again, and then yank (sorry!) out.

Hi,

Maybe try olive oil? Just a suggestion. I have used it with success in the past.

Regards, Kat

This is the best suggestion, but if it doesn't work, you can try this. Since the stopper is already broken, and assuming you aren't trying to save it, you could get a small pair of pliers and chip away at the stopper until it comes apart enough to get out. Do this inside of a bag and wear safety glasses so the bits don't fly in your eyes, but it might be safer than hitting the outside of the decanter.
