Hi Dave,
While an online appraisal may initially sound like a good idea, it really isn't the way to go.
A jpeg and a description from someone who doesn't know exactly what they have, is not an adequate way to establish identity and value. A qualified appraiser will want to see, feel, and smell your items. Would you really want an appraisal from someone who couldn't properly evaluate the item?
On the other hand, if you have a general idea of what you have, and just want to know what price that type of item is bringing, it's easy enough to do a search on that large auction site. You'll soon find that almost nothing is 'rare'.
If you're baffled by what you have, post a complete description here, along with a URL and someone here will probably help you out, if you ask nicely! Do NOT expect for anyone to e-mail you the info. This is a discussion group.

Good luck,
