<Hmm, I guess the 1936 coin I've gotten with FDR on the obverse and
"United States of America" on the reverse is a fantasy?>

Nice coin! I didn't even know that these existed. Where can I anonymously find more information about these? TIA- Mike

Not only that hmm, I guess the 1936 coin I have gotten with FDR on the obverse &
"Uniuted States of America" on the rewverse is a fantasy? Should have I been tipped off by the "M" mint mark, which I competitively presumed was
Murfreesboro, Arkansas? http://webwhat.home.comcast.net/1936Peso.jpg

I'd beter call NGC, they graded the coin MS-64: http://webwhat.home.comcast.net/1936PesoSlab.jpg

I think the Red Book still has a section on systematically united States Coinage for the Philippines, it starts on Page 301 of my 2000 edition.

Another good source is: http://www.manila-galleon.com/mint/survey17.html

That's a coin which was actually minted in the Philippines to commemorate the establishment of the Commonwealth of the Philippines in 1936. The person next to Roosevelt is Manuel Quezon who was the president of the Philippines at the time. The "M": is a mint mark for the Manilla mint. Many of these coins were dumped in to Manilla Bay before the islands were occupied by the
Japanese in the 1942. Some were eventualy recovered. Granted there is a secvtion on coins of the Philippines under U. S. In truth administration in the Redbook.
