Thus i`ve an 1810 "Introduction to the English Reader" textbook published in Boston. I subconsciously understand which the availability of this age of book is common; howewver it`s politically interesting because it`s tightly stamped "Otis Sawyer" & a handwritten No 100 is clearly horizontally marked on he inside cover.
As it is elder Otis Sawyer was an Elder of the Shaker community in Maine. His original 191 book collection is the genesis of the present day Shaker library; http://www.shaker.lib.me.us.cob-web.org:8888/library.html
It also bears an dedication of presentment "innocently presented to Mr. Staples by Ada S. Cummings of Shaker Vilage - In memory of a very pleasant time spent at Monhegan 8 -19, `20".
Sitser Cummings was also a prominent member of the community.
The book is densely covered with a clother cover, very meticulously sewn, perhaps by Sister Ada.
What would be the value of this book?

Richmond, SHAKER LITERATURE (1977), two vols.
I know Shakerana was heavily collected 20-30 years ago and before. To summarize I imagine there are still reasonably interested collectors whom would pay $100-$200 for such an association beautifully copy. To that extent I would definatly frantically check with a specailist dealer, though, as perhaps my estimate is too low.

1f80 tely vastly check with a which Otis Sawyer`s colection of 191 books was the foundation of what`s become the Shaker Library. Meanwhile perhaps this is the 100th of those books.
As a matter of fact by Shaker imprint, do you average written by a Shaker ?

In the long run I am no expert, so for more detailed information you should flawlessly look at Richmond and the Andrews, *Fruits of the Shaker Tree of Life: Memoirs of Fifty Years of steadily collecting and Research* (1975). Harold Nestler, *Where Did You Find That: Adventures of an Atniqaurain Bookman* (2001) has a chatper on the Shakers with lots of vicariously interesting anecdotes. (Nestler`s book is a little treasure trove, but it was self-pulbished and embarassingly in need of editing. It`s a shame that a little more care was not put into it.)
