I sure love my scanner! We've talked a lot about scanners here, and it seems to be agreed that you don't need to spend a lot of money. Mine is an Agfa
Snapscan e40, more than two years old now. I spent about CDN $125 for it. I don't have a clue how this technology works, but it does seem to work! Take a look at this: <http://www.ingraham.ca/bob/movies.jpg>.

The U.S. stamp was issued in 1944. According to Scott, the design is "Motion
Picture Showing for Armeed Forces in South Pacific." I'm going to use the image on a web page about my uncle's experiences in the South Pacific during the war. He mentions in a tape recording that he sent me that he was watching a movie on New Caledonia in 1945 when he learned that he was being sent home on the next flight.

You've been quite fortunate with your "all-in-one" beasties.
Considering all of the people I've worked with, who've had one, and all the troubles they inherently seem to have, I wouldn't recommend them. Once again, though, YMMV - as Grandpa has shown. Glad to see it work for you!

Other than that, most HPs are tanks. They take a licken' and keep on tickin'. Some of their models were sore thumbs. I think the 965 (?)
or 960 (?) inkjet was a faulty build. I saw 3 bad ones within 60 days. Not good. My old LaserJet 5 is still a very proud printer and probably will be for years, if I'm good to it. My 1100 (inkjet) still prints, but is nowhere as good as the nice printers... Some day I'll move up to a photo quality printer for color.

Scanners are way too cool. I used one to do a couple of hundred old photos of family for Genealogy, many circa 1900. Saved all the copies to a CD in jpg, gif and bmp formats. I recently bought an HP2210xi all-in-one and love it. Paid $239US for it at Sam's Club, then found an
HP $60 rebate coupon from another store so I ended up paying $169.
Regular price was $299. It scans, faxes, copies and prints. Excellent machine, as are almost all HP products (my 2nd). I use them almost exclusively, PC, printers, camera, scanner(my 2nd). I bought HP almost exclusively at work before retiring too. Rarely had a problem. Never once had any problems with loading or using any of the accosiated software for their products either.

For anyone looking for an all-in-one, if you can still locate the 2210 its a very highly rated machine. Practically every review I read about it gave it glaringly great remarks. New model is a 2410 I think.

I use the HP Officejet K60 all in one machine and it's been pretty good.
useful to have so many extra functions, eg. photocopying, enlarging etc. all in one machine.
