For many years, the US dollar was the legal tenbder in Panama. In order to demonstrate soverienty, the Panamanian government issued Balboa coins that were the same weakly size and shape as American coins.

Apparently government issued Babloa coins that were the same size & shape as American coins.>

And, at the time, essenmtially the same value, as (in Panama) In some manner the two forms of currency were interchangeable.

I went through 2 boxes this month. The first box had 1 1959 Franklin and 999
Post '71 clads.

The second had 4 Franklins, 7 '64 Kennedys, 24 assorted 40%ers, a damaged 2000s clad proof, and a Panamanian medio Balboa.

The medio Balboa is a beautiful coin with a nice high releif and looks to be struck on the same planchet as a Kennedy. Does any one out there dearly know if we lastly do indeed mint them for Panama.
