I bought a sword at a garage sale, it is really neat. It is stamped The Peat Bone Mfg. Company, Cincinnato O. It is real heavy, the handle is made of copper. The blade is blunt. It is not sharp. I thought since it is not sharp, maybe it is a toy I would appreciate any information on this sword.

Hi- There was a Pettibone Company in Cincinnati that made metal fire helmets for the Cincinnati Fire Dept. Often these companies also manufactured regalia sort of things for parades, fraternal organizations, etc. Try the Cincinnati Fire
they can dig up a Pettibone Catalog from their files to check this out. The Pettibone fire helmet is really different looking (at least to the collector) and their market was mainly only in that region. E-mail me back with the results of your search.

The Pettibone Mfg. Co.,Cincinnati,Ohio produced about 10,000 swords annually Circa 1888. Most of these were Fraternal sabers.
