No matter what you are collecting eventually you’ll be faced with the question of price.

The art of pricing is explained rather clearly here. The post relates to pricing first editions of books but it applies to a large extent to the pricing process of many items that are making up many different collections.

Most of the collectors I’ve met or spoke with including yours truly have coped with the question of the sums of money that we put into this very unique hobby. I’m not talking now about the big art collectors who pays huge sums of money one each piece of art, I’m talking about the collector that has to decide again and again on priorities if he really wants to buy this special items that captures his imagination.

Some call it love while others talk of temptations but eventually when it is strong enough you’ll find a way to afford the items that you dream of.
