Thanks for the compliment about the website. I'm not sure how "short" it is, though! But I'm pleased with it, although I always feel like I should do more. I was pleased to learn from the chairman of VANPEX 2003 that he received several exhibit applications directly from the website, and we've also gained a few new members, who Googled us.
We like Vancouver very much, although it does have a host of urban problems, in common with everywhere else, it seems. Everyone is all atwitter now that it's been selected for the 2010 Winter Olymnpics. I think I would like to be transported, suddenly, to spring, 2010.
We retired and moved here in December, 2000, although we lived in a
Vancouver suburb for a couple of years back in the early 1970s. But I was a poor student then and we could hardly enjoy anything but the view. You can see where I live now (look for the red dot) in this (tested) jpeg <http://www.ingraham.ca/bob/vancouverwestendred.jpg>. It's an easy walk to
English Bay, to Stanley Park, and to Coal Harbour, and even downtown and
Chinatown. Kinda different than Albuquerque, eh? We also have stamp shops all over the place, something like eight or nine depending on what you consider to be Vancouver. There are four within five or six blocks of each other in downtown Vancouver.

You're a lucky dog! No stamp stores in Abq at all, zilch, and 600,000 people too. The Rio Grande runs thru town but its pretty small right now. My friend in Victoria lives in a condo just across the street from the bay where the Clipper comes in (Parliment bldg & Empress Hotel are there too). The boardwalk was a real pleasure to stroll along, the smell, the critters. Dang I miss the water. Its drier than a popcorn f*rt here, 50's at night, mid 70's daytime now. My love is for the water and ships. Wife thinks I'm goofy but it calls to me, constantly. I need to get back to Seattle & visit family, plus the Big
Water<sigh>. Betcha 10-1 I'll start a Topical ship collection<G>.
Speaking of the Olympics, didn't I read somplace where Canada has just issued a stamp now for the 2010 Olympics? I'll bet it'll be a hot comodity there. I've got to catagorize the ones I saved from my friend & see what I've got. May even have an 86 Olympics, who knows. I've still got the Scott's 'C' catalogue I borrowed from the library.
