hi.....i have a chest form the turn of the century with some inlay work...etc......on the front of the drawers, and the sides of the chest there is a 'fog' covering the origional finish...anyone know what it is?...or what might take it off?........i dont want to refinish it if

Michelle, It sounds as if either heat or moisture on wax. Start with the simplest solution - a good cleaning. Try mineral spirits - if the problem is wax that has clouded, this will take the wax off. You can then re-polish. Judith Katz-Schwartz

hi michelle the fog covering the chest of drawers usaully im afraid means either it needs to be repolished due to what we call the polish has gone cloudy, or if you have been waxing your chest you need more elbow grease (more rubbing) to get rid of some of the wax.

we see many pieces of furinture like this and usaully we are able to clean it back with meths and then repolish the item. if you need any further help see us at our home page
