Is there a proper term for when a perferation is made, but not all the way through? I have a few pairs inwhich the the whole perferation lines are there, it's just indented and the holes are complete?

So I know it's not an imperferation. Is there a good term?

(from Linn's)

Blind perforation: Intended perforations that are only lightly impressed by the perforating pins, leaving the paper intact, but cut or with a faint impression. Some stamps that appear to be imperforate really are not if they have blind perfs.
Stamps with blind perfs are minor varieties carrying little, if any, price premium over normally perforated copies.

Part-perforation: A stamp with all perforations missing on one or more sides, but with at least one side perforated.

That's exactly what they are called. It was one of the first philatelic terms I learned when I began my adult incarnation as a stamp collector.

Steve, and others that may be interested. Stanley Gibbons has just published a book entitled "Philatelic Terms Illustrated", at GB pounds

Yes, - THANK YOU,,,

I also heard it's called Partial Perf.
But Blind Perf sounds better.

Scott does list a variety imperf between. These originated with a broken perf wheel. There was an article in one of the Journals - APS or Linn's that described how they were caused. Not very rare. A mint pair, imperf lists for $27.50 in 2002 Scott's. My partial imperf was discovered in a cigar box I picked up at an auction. About the only thing worth taking out of the box.

How about "blind" perfs? Cause you can't see through them.

Sounds like a mis-perf rather than a blind perf. I've occasionally seen stamps missing one perf hole, probably from broken perforator teeth. Several missing perforations would seem to be an error of some sort, but I'm sure no expert here. In fact, you now know the full extent of my knowledge about this topic!

Bob and Steve,

I also have several examples of missing perfs - not completely missing. The two stamps are perfed about one-third of the length of the stamp. Then the perfs stop - no indentation - no mark. Then after about 6 missing perfs, they start up again. I can't locate them right now but they are on the US 3c
National Defense issue (Scott # 901).
